Xbox 360 dilemma

Thanks to a 0430 wakeup call and an 0510 arrival at our local Sam's Club, I have a brand new Xbox 360. I'm trying to decide if I should keep it or sell it. Each has its pros and cons. In favor of keeping it, if I sell it now I may not be able to get another one until next year. On the other hand, people are selling NIB 360s for crazy prices on eBay, and it's hard to ignore the notion of an instant profit-- I could make enough to pay for a replacement and some games. Complicating things is the demand factor: demand is high now, so I could get a good price. Will demand go up or down as we get closer to Christmas? Only the shadow knows.

Update: I put it on eBay with a ridiculously high "buy it now" price at about 6:20p last night. I then went out with the missionaries to visit a family in our ward. By the time I got back in the car-- less than two hours later-- someone had bought it.

If such a thing were to fall out of the sky I'd probably sell it. I already have two multipurpose computers with plenty of games available if I wanted to play one.

Then again, I'm just an old fart, and I have issues about all these darn kids who won't stay off my lawn. (shakes cane!)

Sell it -NOW-.

MSFT will keep making them - they might catch up to supply by Christmas.

That's what I'm betting on :)

Based upon the reviews at Ars Technica you may want to wait until they're shipping with a larger HDD than 20Gb before buying one to use anyway; apparently approx. 40% of it gets used right-out-the-box for system utilites, patches, updates, and caching of various kinds.

That sucks. I am fighting to find one to play & use. Was Sam's Club getting more?

Wow, I checked out ebay and saw one for a buy it now price of $10,000. Was that you Paul? Ha ha.

That said, I wonder if the PlayStation 3 will generate the same response in the spring. If so, I am planning on putting a couple on reserve and selling them on ebay myself.

That is completely insane. Is an xbox360 the bee's knees?

Man, it's just crazy. There are tons of 360s going for far more than I got for mine. It's the new "Tickle Me Elmo", I guess. Microsoft is cranking them out at full blast, and they're shipping to retailers every week. For large retailers, that means that they'll be getting stock to work off all the many preorders they have. For smaller ones, I'd bet the odds are pretty good that you can get one before Christmas if you act fast.
